Many molluscs are eaten as food ie, clams, oysters, scallops, mussels and squid (calamari).
Sea molluscs are a large, diverse group of sea creatures, including such seafood favorites as oysters, clams, mussels and scallops. These can be removed from their shell and eaten raw, such as oysters, or cooked and added to your favorite seafood recipe. Steaming mussels and clams is also very common. Whether steamed, grilled, stir-fried or sautéed, cooking should be brief as overcooking will make the shellfish tough. Always make sure the shells are tightly shut. If they are open or cracked, this indicates they are no longer alive.
Pan-fry scallops with butter and seasoning. If you plan on serving the mollusc in the shell, as you would with oysters, arrange them nicely in a bed of ice and store in a cool place, or serve immediately.
